The Need

• 850 million people around the world live in chronic poverty and hunger.
• 40,000 children die each day from starvation and illnesses related to malnutrition.
• One-half of all deaths of children under age five are associated with hunger.

• The world produces enough food to feed every man, woman and child a healthy diet every day.

Kids Against Hunger—South Metro

Kids Against Hunger is a nonprofit organization with the mission to significantly reduce the number of hungry children in the USA and to feed starving children throughout the world. The South Metro satellite (KAH-SM), located at The Urban Refuge, was launched in March of 2008. During our packing sessions volunteers package Kids Against Hunger's specially formulated rice-soy casserole into serving size portions to send to people in need.

How You Can Help

KAH-SM is dependent on the generosity of people and businesses in our community to purchase and package the food. You can help by:

• Sign up to attend a packing session. Packing the food is easy! You can just come yourself, or bring friends, family and co-workers to make it a packing party!
• Donate funds to help purchase the food that we pack. 94% of your donation goes to purchase, pack, and ship the food.
• Sponsor our operation on a monthly basis.

Feeding the World

Though KAH-SM will ship food to wherever there is need, we have developed special relationships with organizations in Haiti and Nicaraugua. We are working with these organizations to make sure that the food gets delivered directly to the people who need it without delays or interference.

Although KAH-SM utilizes space, web hosting, and other support graciously provided by The Urban Refuge, KAH-SM is a nondenominational humanitarian organization.
